Hi, I was searching about sexual magick and I came across this information about the Arcanum AZF (A.Z.F. stands for A (agua, water), Z (azufre, sulfur), F (fuego, fire), and is thus: water + fire = consciousness), a tantra technique for sexual energy transmutation. As a whole it seems pretty interesting but, for what I've read so far, it has a lot of strict rules one has to follow, for example:
- The practice has to be done by a married couple (male- female)
- The productive organs of the individuals have to be intact, no vasectomies, no tubal ligation
- One have to get rid of the "animalistic" sexual impulse
Among other things...
This makes me wonder:
- Is the vasectomy really an issue? If the goal is not to spill the seed in order to transmute it into higher energy, wouldn't that procedure be helpful to that endeavor?
- Isn't the "animalistic" sex drive part of the whole exercise? Could they be referring to lust? Is lust bad for a sexual magick practice?
I'm sure there are other currents of thought regarding the subject, with their own rules, but these strike me as pretty peculiar, so I wanted to share this, hoping you shared your thoughts about as well.
These requirements listed seem to be about purity.
- Marriage: Not out of wedlock and dedicated to each other (opposed to sex outside marriage as a "sin").
- In tact: No deformation, mutilation, corruption or otherwise to the flesh.
- No condom: Nothing between the flesh contact/preventing fluid transfer.
- No animalistic: Control of the mind. As with other practices, the ability to focus on whatever one needs to (in this case the transmutation of energy) requires being able to full focus on, not get lost or be distracted by whatever else is going on. Single minded, pint point intent to match control of emotion, as with other things and stuff.
I may be wrong but that's how it seems to me, it's a purity of being thing. A ritual in another time would've dictated virgin sheets, robes, candles, etc. to accompany the rest of what seems to focus around having states of purity as a focus.
As for whether lust is bad for magickal practices, it really depends on what is being done. Again, this all seems to focus around purity.
