In ancient Egypt - particularly in the Late Period, (715 - 30 BC) and the Ptolemaic period, cats were bred specifically for the purpose of sacrifice and mummification.
The mass amount of mummified cats? Not worshipped, not honoured, fuel for the god they were given up to.

The popularity of Bastet's cult, especially at centers like Bubastis, led to huge demand for mummified cats. Millions of cats were sacrificed and mummified over centuries. The scale suggests that the original, casual supply of wild or pet cats was not sufficient.
It's believed "catteries" were established as dedicated breeding operations, near temples.
Evidence from cat mummies, with great prevalence of young kittens (4-6 months) among the remains supports the idea of systemic breeding. They were raised to be offered up.

There's a lot of supporting evidence and discussion on details can go on and on, but it does highlight something in the occult that I've touched on but not focused on, tried to teach here or there but mostly just kept quietly to myself for future publication:

That of like attracting like in the spirit world, that energies so aligned will find their way to same. This speaks on such things as being able to enter Heaven, Valhalla and other afterlives that have a requirement of living life a certain way to reach, as well as places like Purgatory which serve a purpose of cleansing or aligning a spirit to the appropriate frequency before being permitted entry somewhere.
It is for this reason that the best sacrifices to a godform is that which closely aligns with it - why a Christian slave sacrificed to Norse gods is inappropriate.

We might also ponder that sacrifices of an energy type - or energy otherwise transmitted - to a godform affect the energetic makeup of the godform. We are what we eat.
Anyway I've began to ramble, it's an in depth line of thought with considerations of evidence spamming millennia across time and space.
Come on, you should know. Of course I dare mock you.
