In Norse mythology, Syn (Old Norse: [ˈsyn], "refusal") is a goddess associated with defensive refusal. Syn is attested in the Prose Edda.
She is Frigga's doorkeeper at the hall of Fensalir as well as is listed as guarding Freyja's hall Sessrúmnir. As such She helps with the warding of boundaries and to stand for when refusal is right, especially when it's difficult to say "No".
As a goddess of justice related to defensive refusal, she could be invoked by defendants in legal matters.
Syn can be invoked in guarding a boundary or door way from negative people and energies, some folk have been known to hang a broom over a doorway as a symbol to for her.
As oaths are doors and boundaries that should not be transgressed she can be invoked in regards to keeping one's oaths.
Her name is pronounced: "Soon" and means "denial" or "refusal".
